Quality education is today’s need as it is a tool for development of intellectual skills and knowledge which will equip learners to the needs of professionals, decision makers and development of interpersonal skills. Cantonment Board Schools are implementing provisions of Right to Education Act, 2009 earnestly. The Board is giving thrust to ensure that all children of Cantonment have access to the schools as also to raise the quality of education in the schools maintained by the Board. Cantonment Board, Delhi is spending about 10% of its total expenses towards provisioning of education. Cantonment Board is maintaining six Senior Secondary schools, one Public school and one school for Physically disabled children where around 4,800 children from the cantonment area are studying free of cost. Out of 4,800 school children, the number of girl students are 2,000. Cantonment Board is maintaining an english medium school named Silver Oak School which was upgraded from Primary level to Secondary level in the year 2015-16. All Cantonment Board schools are following CBSE curriculum. School Management Committees have been formed in all CB schools as per provision of Right to Education Act and powers have been delegated to SMCs. Cantonment Board is providing free Education, Uniform, Shoes, Books and Mid-day meal facilities. For promoting education, Dakhila Abhiyan Rallies are conducted invariably every year. Cantonment Board schools have adopted no rejection policy and schools are promoting inclusive education. With up-gradation of schools, lot of infrastructural improvements were undertaken in the past and the initiatives are being continued.
